We were lucky enough this year to be featured on BBC Children in Need, having already received a grant from them over 3 years.
Due to our grant being given for hosting family events to support the wellbeing of our children, the lovely team at Children in Need chose one of our family events, pizza making at Rustico Hailsham, to film. It was a great opportunity for the atmosphere and laughter that our events always involve to be showcased and celebrated 🎉
The families all had a great time at Rustico and made some delicious pizzas under the watchful eyes of the expert chefs. The families all sat round to enjoy the fruits of their labour and then some of the children had a chat with the film crew. Everyone did so well with the added pressure of the film crew in attendance and did the charity proud.
In addition, one of our amazing children, Bea, was featured on the local South East broadcast with her lovely family. Thank you to them for agreeing to share their story and promote the work that Children with Cancer Fund are doing. Excitingly, she was also featured on the national broadcast and Bea was an absolute superstar on the night. She sang in the Children in Need choir alongside other remarkable children who have been supported by other charities funded by BBC Children in Need. It was such a joy for us all to see her live on screen, having a brilliant time and singing her heart out. We are thrilled that she was able to experience this opportunity.
Finally, we need to mention how brilliantly Jess, Operations Manager and Events Co-ordinator, championed Children with Cancer Fund. She did an amazing job at the filming event at Rustico and then went on to bigger and better things with a live interview on BBC South East Today. Alongside Chris, Director and Founder, they dealt with the questions thrown at them with aplomb! Despite time constraints meaning that they were unable to speak for as long as they would have liked, they both eloquently conveyed the ways in which Children with Cancer Fund offers support to families and the benefits that this provides. We are all so very proud of them 😊
What an opportunity this was to promote our charity on a bigger stage! We will build on this to continue to work to raise awareness of childhood cancer and to do what we can to make the lives of our families a little bit easier.
Thank you to BBC Children in Need for the recognition of our work and the invaluable support provided.
