CWCF is one of 30 charities chosen by a panel of judges to receive £10,000 as part of specialist insurer Ecclesiastical’s Movement for Good awards, which is giving £1million to good causes this year.
Chloe Matthews, Grant Fundraiser at Children with Cancer Fund, said
“We believe that no family should feel alone at any point in their childhood cancer journey. Funding from Ecclesiastical will enable us to provide exciting social events that unite children with cancer and their families with others in their immediate community going through the same experiences.”
“Our project unites over 130 families across East Sussex, Brighton and Hove, helping to reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation that often come with a child’s cancer diagnosis. The events will provide a positive focus for the families, and a safe space to share their experiences, building strong support networks that can last a lifetime. Some of the events will include trips to our local adventure park, meals in local restaurants, mini golf and go-karting. The project is driven by the families we support, with their thoughts and feedback shaping the activities we provide.”
The awards are designed to help charities make a real difference in their communities. More than 1,000 charities applied for the funding and the winning projects were selected against four criteria: impact and effectiveness, sustainability, innovation, and care and compassion.
The funding will support Children with Cancer Fund’s social events project over the next three years.
“Thanks to the funding, many unique friendships will form and precious memories will be made, this is invaluable to the families we support. We thank you for your kindness and generosity.”

Through the second phase of our Movement for Good awards we are actively championing innovation, giving charities the backing they need to propel their plans forward and turn creative ideas into practical solutions that benefit society. We know that £10,000 can make a huge difference to the incredible work that charities do and we’re looking forward to seeing how this financial boost will change lives for the better.”
